I did something new yesterday!
I taught a Cooking Class!!!
And although it was tiring, I really enjoyed it!
From planning the activities of the day to setting up each station...
to actual preparation, and baking and cooking the Menu.
The ladies also had fun and learned so much.
Kitchen language is quite extensive and includes terms like sear, sauté, baste, roast, dice, chop, and mince. They learned to read and comprehend recipe preparations better. In a cooking class, they pick up the necessary vocabulary.
Knife skills, basic cooking techniques like searing and braising, menu planning, and meal preparation are just a few of the fundamental culinary abilities some have picked up.
A cooking lesson can introduce you to new foods and the many ways they are prepared, as some have experienced.
Some have increased their palates! They were introduced to a new way, method, and combinations that they had not thought of on their own. Thus this cooking class increases the range of flavors in their diet.
I taught one group how to make dressings. They made 5: Thousand Island, Balsamic, Ceasar, Italian, and Honey Mustard. They swore they wouldn't buy their dressings anymore, hahaha!
Four ladies learned how to make a Galette! They made a Peach Galette and a Lemon Blueberry Galette.
They also made an Apple Galette and a Strawberry Galette!

More importantly, the cooking class helped build their confidence in the kitchen.
Each and every one expressed their gratitude for the educational day they had. Up until this morning, I continued to receive texts from some of them!
I can cross off one item in my New Year's resolutions list!
