#Beerologist may be a made up title but I sure lean into it with my enjoyment of craft beers and weekly blog. If you are the same, then #beersaturday by our friend @detlev may be the place for you! So glad to have found a home with beer drinkers across the world on my favourite blockchain. For week 402, we sample beers from home, out on the town and across the globe!

The Pint O the Week is usually a nice draft, enjoyed out on the town in a social setting, enjoying out community with some suds. Definitely the case here as our crew's brewmaster and I hit the town for a pint. These ones are classic OG craft beers Creemore Lager that has since been purchased by Molson. Still, they are solid pints of consistent taste and quality when on draft and a trip down taste bud memory lane.

As you can see, the pub itself is named Work Pub & Eatery and apparently they haven't even made themselves a website they are so new. The owners are a well-known family who has run pubs for many years, recently sold their last one and opened this to nice community response and support. A good place to see familiar faces and grab a pint.

As I like to discover a craft brewery through their IPA offering, I like to opt for a burger when visiting a pub for the first time to see how they stack up. This was a spicy jack burger with a standard patty, solid bun and decent toppings. Nothing overly special about it but the fries looked hand cranked and it definitely was a tasty late dinner to accompany the pint.

Beer from Abroad!

Occasionally, friends like @parabyte (Come back to Hive!) send me beer pictures from abroad while on vacation. What better part of a vacation than a destination beer?! I had never heard of Brouweri'T Ij (https://www.brouwerijhetij.nl/all-our-beers/?lang=en) before but do love discovering new Amsterdam craft breweries.

Nice to see this IPA weighs in at a fairly standard 6.5% ABV and the back label translates to 'with pronounced bitterness and fruity aromas of grapefruit and flowers one of the first Dutch IPAs' I do lover a dark blonde IPA with a slight haze and will have to search this one out next time I am through Amsterdam. Thanks for sharing Parabyte!

Our Latest Batch

IMG_4689.JPG

For those just joining along in this 400-week drinking session, part of my covered Beerologist designation comes from over a decade of brewing beer as well. Presently, we are working with a home brewing outfit with a rather impressive setup. I predominantly drink our beers as they are less expensive than buying retail, are a labour of love, and I have come to prefer our fresh grain to glass brews with our hand-selected ingredients.

In the last week and a bit, we have pulled an Amber, Cream Ale, and a Stout off fermentation and kegged them up for consumption. The lighter beer in the foreground is our 7% LANfest IPA which is a sweet, strong and hazy punch in the mouth. In the back, a freshly kegged Irish Stout I was looking forward to tasting.

True to how an Irish Stout should be, we pour it with Nitro gas rather than Co2 for that smoother and creamier texture. You can see it cascades and slowly settles like a Guinness which is magical to see. This batch turned out to be a little light on ABV at 3.8% but wonderfully smooth and malty with hints of chocolate and coffee. The head makes a Guinness style moustache and the hops give it a trace of bitterness that I think even the Irish would enjoy.

I may be a little biased because it is our beer, but this deceptively light breakfast beer is an absolute pleasure to your mouth and would not be out of place consumed by the dozen in an Irish pub while watching a rugby or hurling match with the lads.

IPA or Stout for your first pint at our brewery?

Sort:

Lol @ breakfast beer. You lush..

Also.. week 402.. 420... same thing..

Morning bowl / morning pint.

I may have to come up with something psychedelic for week 420.

Like dissolving a couple mushroom gummies in your morning beer..
