It's hard to make out in this image, but on the far right are slices of "Pineapple Upsidedown cake (two uncovered for this image) waiting so that when time to eat dessert, I put a scoop of Pineapple Sherbet on each one.
Then then next to the left is the beverage station, whether you wanted Wine, Tea or water.
Then the table was set for FIVE PEOPLE (myself included)
In the center of the table is a dark green glass bowl with home made coleslaw, made from home grown cabbage (the outer leaves, dark purple and green cabbage, tougher and stronger flavored) mayonaise and dill relish.
Continuing counter clockwise, on the corner is a small container of sour cream with dried chives, a bowl with 5 ROASTED potatoes, softened butter nearby.
Sliced veggies to build your own salad, based on "baby spring greens"

coleslaw in the center, salad bowl on the right, both with fresh cabbage plant tops in the center for decoration

I bought two bags of "Knorr Sides (in this case broccoli cheddar and rice)... to save time I asked my neighbor (who was attending) to fix those

All 4 guests arrived, we ate and chatted and enjoyed the company.
On the left (out of frame) is my neighbor Mary (who cooked the side for me) The Red head is Lori, a pet sitter who lives across the street, both those ladies attend almost every meal I host.
Then the newbies. Unique is a GF of Neighbor Albert (out of frame on the right)
I've known Albert almost from the time I bought this place, but in all 5 yrs, he has never come over to eat until now.
I only met the GF Unique about a month ago, at Albert's house.
They all raved over my dessert (all store bought, but my idea of combining the pineapple sherbet with pineapple upside down cake)

I did play some music, and attempted to sing (I am much much better, but still coughing and slightly hoarse)
Side note, I had the meat, but started everything cooking and harvesting from my garden about 1 PM, meal served at 4:30
As soon as everyone departed, I went to my room to catch Jeopardy, then returned and rinsed and loaded the dishwasher.
I turned off TV before 11 and slept pretty good other than waking up to cough, and the ever present leg cramps which NEVER start until I lie down and try to sleep.
I gotta figure out what that is all about.
All in all, I think it was a great success

I'm glad you are feeling better! 😃 Looks like a fun dinner party! 😋 If you ever wanna make a very easy (but from scratch!) Pineapple Upside Down Cake, let me know and I will share the recipe!

As a person who also hosts dinner parties like this, I know how hard it is to make it the 'Best Dinner Party', the amount of work goes into it is unbelievable!
It's always a proud moment when the guest or friends come over at the end and the whole party goes smoothly like you expected.
Great job! and I hope you guys had fun!
Thanks for sharing! 😄

Good Morning @alsonsjournal. Of course, since I enjoy cooking in general the prep was fun for me, and all my guests seemed to really enjoy themselves.
Afterward, (well I started clearing and rinsing dishes from the table) as they were finished, when the last goodbye was said, I stopped and went to watch a gameshow. When that was done, it took me an hour to rinse and fit as much as I could into the dishwasher.
There were still a couple of things that would not fit.
Yesterday morning, it took another hour to unload the machine and put all that stuff away, then rinse and load those few things that wouldn't go the previous night. THAT part, I do not enjoy ha ha

Ah yes! The gruesome part of after party cleaning! It gets to everyone 😂

I love dinner parties with friends and family especially when the dishes are my favourite 😋

The dinner party clearly was a huge success. I would love to try and pull something off like this. I've never hosted a dinner party (or a lunch one for that matter) and it looks like a lot of efforts were put into yours. In sure it was worthwhile and everyone had so much fun!

Hi @yugadi, prior to this all my meals shared have been in the mid to early afternoon. My male neighbor worked until 4:30 pm, hence the time adjustment.
Since both he and his girlfriend were newbies, I DID take a bit more effort on this 'Soiree'
I believe everyone enjoyed the food, camaraderie and conversation

What a warm and inviting dinner gathering you hosted! Overall, it sounds like your dinner was a wonderful success! Great food, laughter, and good company. 🍷🍰

As for the leg cramps, they can be such a nuisance, especially when they disrupt sleep. Have you tried increasing your magnesium or potassium intake? Sometimes dehydration or electrolyte imbalance can trigger them, so staying hydrated and adding foods like bananas, spinach, or nuts might help. Stretching gently before bed could also ease the tightness.

It is absolutely true that when such a party is arranged at home, a lot of food is prepared and the space should also be large enough so that everyone can enjoy themselves together.

Everytime we're having an occasion like this ,I am the one who is so much busy hihi

You must be the host/cook as that is the job with the most work.
